Austin FC and Mazatlán will face each other this Friday, July 21, in the first round of group stage matches in the 2023 Leagues Cup. The match will take place at Q2 Stadium at 10:00 p.m. ET. Here’s everything you need to know about the clash on Friday night.
This will be the third game of the first day of Leagues Cup 2023 action, kicking off the action in South 1. At first glance Austin FC look to have a significant advantage over their Mexican counterparts having reached the MLS Western Conference Final last season. The MLS side are in good form, having won their last three domestic matches in a row. Mazatlan FC finished in last place in the 2023 Clausura Tournament of Liga MX.
South 1: Who’s in it?
The South 1 group is made up of Austin FC, Mazatlan FC, and FC Juarez, three relatively young clubs who haven’t been in existence for more than 10 years. It is also important to note that officially none of the three clubs have any titles in their trophy cabinets, so a hunger for trophies will be good for the Leagues Cup 2023 spectacle.
