Leagues Cup 2023 Disciplinary Committee Decisions

Leagues Cup 2023 today announced the Leagues Cup Disciplinary Committee decisions following the first round of matches, played between July 21 and 23, 2023:

• In the 30th minute of the Sporting Kansas City match vs. FC Cincinnati, Sporting Kansas City player Alan Pulido was issued a red card for violent conduct.  In accordance with article 17.31.5 of the League Cup 2023 Competition Regulations, the Disciplinary Committee has issued a two-match suspension to Pulido.

• The Disciplinary Committee has fined Club Atlas for language posted on social media following the match against New York City FC. The language posted violates articles 3.3, 17.58 and 17.61 of the Leagues Cup 2023 Competition Regulations, as well as the principles promoted by the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA).

• Club León was given a warning in accordance with Article 17.54 of the Leagues Cup 2023 Competition Regulations for delaying the start of the second half of the match.

• In accordance with articles 17.64 and 17.65 of the Leagues Cup 2023 Competition Regulations, the Disciplinary Committee has issued a warning to the following individuals for making negative comments to media, or on social media, regarding the work of tournament referees: Club Cruz Azulplayer* Carlos Joel Salcedo andClub Xoloitzcuintles de Tijuana coach Miguel Herrera Aguirre*.

• In accordance with article 16.14.1 of the Competition Regulations, the Disciplinary Committee received from Club Tijuana appeals for the respective red cards received by players Nicolás Díaz and Kevin Balanta.

Upon review, the Disciplinary Committee denied both appeals, upholding the Referee’s on-field decisions The players will be unavailable to participate in the club's next Leagues Cup match versus Querétaro on July 30.
