The Leagues Cup 2023 playoff spots are now starting to be filled up, even if for the time being there are no confirmed match-ups. Thursday’s action saw another two teams move on to the Round of 32.
The qualifiers have come from different groups - Central 1 and Central 2 - an important factor when taking a look at who their opponents will be for their next matches.
Here are the teams who went through on Thursday:
Minnesota United FC
The Loons’ opening-match win against **Club Puebla**, a 4-0 victory, had virtually put them through already. Those three points, on top of their ample goal difference, meant that Thursday’s 3-2 defeat to Chicago Fire FC would not prevent them reaching the playoffs.
They will be keeping an eye on the game between the Men in Red and Club Puebla next Monday, in order to find out whether they will finish first or second in the group.
SC Club América
The Águilas kicked off their Leagues Cup 2023 campaign with a 4-0 thrashing of St Louis CITY, earning them a spot in the knockout rounds already. The latter side are out of the tournament, given they had previously lost 2-1 to Columbus Crew. Two games, two defeats. SC Club América, meanwhile, still have one final group stage game to determine in which qualifying position they will finish.
