Leagues Cup official partner Lowe’s supports United Against Hunger by renovating and expanding Feeding South Florida’s facilities, improving the space ─ foot by foot ─ through the company’s promise to deliver 10 million square feet of impact, including a $300,000 Lowe’s Hometown grant

With less than 30 days until Leagues Cup 2025 kicks off July 29, the tournament – along with Major League Soccer and LIGA MX – reaffirms its shared commitment to fighting food insecurity through the return of the United Against Hunger initiative. Launched in 2023, the program is a cornerstone of the tournament’s social impact efforts, supporting individuals and families without access to nutritious food. By leveraging the unifying power of soccer, the tournament aims to uplift communities across all 36 participating club cities in North America. This year, Leagues Cup official partner Lowe’s is joining the initiative with added support in South Florida.

For every match ticket sold throughout the tournament, two (2) meals will be donated to communities in need. Thanks to the passion of fans and partners, 2.2 million meals were donated in 2023 and 2.3 million meals in 2024. For its first three editions, Leagues Cup has set a cumulative goal of 6.3 million donated meals.

As part of this year’s efforts, Leagues Cup and Inter Miami CF official partner Lowe’s is supporting United Against Hunger in South Florida. Through the company’s commitment to delivering 10 million square feet of impact this year, Feeding South Florida, a local Feeding America affiliate, will receive a $300,000 Lowe’s Hometowns grant to renovate and expand the Pembroke Park facility. The renovation, completed with support from Lowe’s red vest associates, will double the organization’s capacity and increase food distribution from 1.2 million to 2.4 million people. The investment will also enhance the Client Choice Food Pantry program and create more volunteer opportunities for the community.

San Diego FC’s Hirving “Chucky” Lozano and Club América’s Henry Martín have joined the 2025 campaign to help raise awareness and connect with fans. Both players participated in launch events in San Diego and Mexico City respectively, to help amplify the program’s message and encourage fans to take part in the movement.

Food insecurity remains a critical issue. In 2023, 47.4 million Americans, including 13.8 million children, lived in food-insecure households, according to the USDA. In Canada, an estimated 10 million people, including 2.5 million children, were affected in 2024, according to research from the University of Toronto. In Mexico, 44 million people—34.5 percent of the population—live in food poverty, according to data from CONEVAL.**

To carry out this mission, Leagues Cup partners with Feeding America® in the United States, Bancos de Alimentos de México (Red BAMX) in Mexico, and Second Harvest in Canada. These leading organizations will help provide meals to those in need in 2025.
