MATCHDAY 5 RECAP: Segura's Late Heroics, León and Monterrey Comebacks Headline Dramatic Night

The fifth matchday of Leagues Cup 2026 delivered late drama, comeback victories and statement performances as the race for the quarterfinals continued to take shape.

Eddie Segura provided the night's most dramatic moment, scoring a late game-winner to lift LAFC to a 1-0 victory over Toluca in a tense battle between two of the tournament's top contenders. León and Monterrey also showed their resilience, with La Fiera coming from behind to stun Orlando City 2-1 on the road and Rayados overturning an early deficit to earn a crucial 2-1 victory over Inter Miami.

Elsewhere, Dallas recorded its second consecutive shutout victory to remain perfect through two matches and strengthen its position in the race for the quarterfinals, while Diego Luna orchestrated a dominant night for Real Salt Lake, spreading the assists around in a commanding 4-0 victory over Atlante.

Here's a look back at everything that happened across Saturday's Leagues Cup action.

Club León 2 vs Orlando City 1

León controlled much of the match and earned a well-deserved 2-1 road victory over Orlando City SC at Inter&Co Stadium.

Jordi Cortizo was at the heart of León’s attack, consistently creating opportunities and Daniel Arcila would score the game-winning goal. Arcila has been one of the stars of the tournament with a goal in each of León's wins.

Monterrey 2 vs Inter Miami 1

Monterrey came from behind to defeat Inter Miami 2-1 on Saturday at Nu Stadium, earning its first victory of the 2026 Leagues Cup.

Rodrigo De Paul opened the scoring in the first half for Miami, but the duo of Hugo Cuypers and Diego Rossi proved too much to stop in the second half giving Rayados the important win.

FC Dallas 1 vs Chivas 0

Despite Guadalajara’s constant pressure, the decisive final touch never came and eventually Dallas brokethrough when Logan Farrington punished a Chivas mistake and gave his side the only goal of the night.

The result was a frustrating night for the Rebaño, which was eliminated from Leagues Cup 2026 despite controlling much of the attacking play.

Real Salt Lake 4 vs Atlanta 0

Real Salt Lake delivered a statement performance at America First Field, cruising to a dominant 4-0 victory over Liga MX side Atlante to keep its Leagues Cup 2026 hopes alive.

Sergi Solans opened the scoring in the first half and Real Salt Lake would add three more goals after the break. With the convincing win, Pablo Mastroeni’s side moves to four points in the tournament and remains firmly in the hunt for a place in the quarterfinals heading into its final Phase One match.

LAFC 1 vs Toluca 0

This game looked destined for penalty kicks — until Eddie Segura showed up.

In one of the most anticipated matches of the night, LAFC and Toluca squared off at BMO Stadium in a heavyweight battle that ultimately needed an unlikely hero to separate the two sides.

In the 91st minute, Segura collected a loose ball after the Toluca defense failed to clear the danger. The LAFC defender showed impressive composure, settling the ball before firing a right-footed shot past goalkeeper Hugo González to send BMO Stadium into a frenzy and give the hosts a dramatic 1-0 victory.
