SANTOS LAGUNA 0(5), ATLANTA UNITED 0(3)

Club Santos Laguna homegrown goalkeeper Carlos Acevedo showed up as the hero against Atlanta United in the penalty shootout to send his team into the Leagues Cup Round of 32 after a scoreless goalkeeping battle through regulation.

Atlanta United is knocked out of the 2024 Leagues Cup as a result while Santos will move on to face the winner of group East 1 to be decided tomorrow. Laguneros found their first Leagues Cup victory when they needed it most to improve on their disappointing group stage exit last season. Now, they prepare for the Round of 32 with their eyes set on a first Leagues Cup knockout round victory.

TORONTO 2, PACHUCA 1

Toronto FC dominated most of the action and it all translated into a big 2-1 win over Pachuca at BMO Field to secure East 6, as they now prepare to face Inter Miami in the Leagues Cup Round of 32, while Los Tuzos finished second of the group and will now go against Tigres.

Toronto will face Inter Miami at Chase Stadium. Pachuca will square off against Tigres in the knockout stage at Q2 Stadium with both games being played August 8.

CRUZ AZUL 1(5), PHILADELPHIA 1(3)

Cruz Azul needed penalties to seal its place in the knockout stage after drawing 1-1 with the Philadelphia Union in the East 4 group on Sunday at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.

The Liga MX club advanced 5-3 in the penalty shootout, leaving it in dramatic fashion after being denied from advancing during regulation. The Union were already through to the next round thanks to its victory over Charlotte FC, who was eliminated as a result.

JUAREZ 1(4), ST. LOUIS CITY 1(1)

Two halves of end-to-end soccer were not enough to determine a winner between St Louis CITY SC and FC Juárez Sunday night at CITYPARK in St. Louis. After the game ended in a 1-1 draw after regulation, the Group West 3 finale came down to penalty kicks, where Juárez prevailed 4-1, to win the group, and advance to the round of 32 for the second year in a row.

The win clinches the group for Juárez, who will now face either León or Colorado Rapids. Despite finishing second in the group, St. Louis will host Group West 5 winners Portland due to their higher seed.

NECAXA 3, SEATTLE 1

Club Necaxa took a 3-1 victory over the Seattle Sounders FC to not only avoid elimination but win the West 6 group on Sunday at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington.

Necaxa will travel to face the San Jose Earthquakes on August 8 at PayPal Park. Seattle Sounders will host the LA Galaxy at Lumen Field on the same night.

LA GALAXY 2(5), CHIVAS 2(4)

In front of a sold-out crowd of over 25,000 people, LA Galaxy sent the majority Chivas de Guadalajara crowd home with frowns on their faces as the hometown team beat Chivas on penalties despite a last-minute equalizer.

As group winners, Galaxy will now travel to Seattle for their Round of 32 matchup against the Sounders on August 8th at Lumen Field.
