The semifinals of the Leagues Cup 2023, which will take place on Tuesday, August 15th, will not only determine the teams that will compete for the title of the international tournament, but will also secure the qualification of two spots for the 2024 Concacaf Champions League (CCL).
Leagues Cup offers three spots to the region's most important club tournament for teams finishing in the top three positions. The champion will directly enter the Round of 16, while the runner-up and the winner of the third place will start from the First Round.
This is a significant incentive for Philadelphia Union, Inter Miami CF, CF Monterrey, and Nashville SC, as they will be guaranteed a place in the 2024 CCL without having to compete for it through MLS or Liga MX.
When will the semifinals of the 2023 Leagues Cup be played?
The two Leagues Cup semi-finals will take place on Tuesday, August 15th.
The first match will be between Philadelphia Union and Inter Miami CF at Subaru Park at 7:00 pm ET and 5:00 pm CDMX.
Then, in the second match, CF Monterrey will face Nashville SC at Geodis Park at 9:30 pm ET and 7:30 pm CDMX.
The dream of reaching the Club World Cup
One of the major objectives for the teams qualifying for the 2024 CCL will be to secure a spot in the FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled for 2025 and to be held in the United States, featuring 32 teams.
Concacaf will have four spots for the last four champions of the Concacaf Champions League, and an additional spot will be granted to the host country.
In 2021, CF Monterrey became the champion, followed by Seattle Sounders in 2022, and Club León in 2023. The final spot will be determined in 2024.
