Weather is adding some drama to Leagues Cup 2023 matches.
FC Cincinnati got off to a record-setting start against Chivas thanks to Brandon Vázquez scoring just 90 seconds into the match. He then added a second goal in the eighth to give his club a commanding 2-0 lead. Things got worse for Chivas when Gilberto Sepúlveda was shown a red card just before the end of the half.
But before FC Cincinnati could work to close out the match, inclement weather rolled into the area, causing match officials to pause the match in the 63rd minute.
The weather in Minnesota allowed everyone to catch their breathe during a wild conclusion to the match. After an hour of scoreless play, Chicago Fire FC and Minnesota Untied FC combined for five goals in the span of of 20-minutes. In a wild display of "anything you cando, I can do better", Chicago equalized twice before taking the lead:
