Sunday will not only bring the final of Leagues Cup 2023 but it will also see who qualifies for the final CONCACAF Champions Cup position that is on offer at the competition. Inter Miami CF and Nashville SC have already qualified for the competition through reaching the final of Leagues Cup 2023, whereas one of Monterrey and Philadelphia Union will play it out for the third place position.
If the MLS side wins the third-place play-off in Leagues Cup then they will qualify for the 2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup. However, things get interesting in the case that Monterrery end up with the bronze medal. The Mexican side has already qualified for the continental competition, as have Pachuca, Tigres, Toluca, and Club América. As winners of the previous edition of the CCC, then Club Léon will take a spot at the competition, despite failing to qualify through their League position last year.
Club Léon reached the Round of 32 of Leagues Cup 2023 but were knocked out by MLS outfit Real Salt Lake, with a double from Dany Musovski and a goal from Cristian Arango responding to León’s opener through Iván Moreno. In the group stages the LIGA MX side managed a penalty win over Vancouver Whitecaps (16-15) and a 1-0 result over LA Galaxy.
