Chicago Fire FC will be making their Leagues Cup 2023 debut on Thursday 27 July, against Minnesota United FC at Allianz Field. With Xherdan Shaqiri among the team’s stars, the MLS side will be looking to set one foot in the playoff stage of the tournament early on.
The Illinois-based team will play in the Central 2 group, with LIGA MX outfit Club Puebla set to be their other opponent in the pool. In MLS, they are in eleventh place in the Eastern Conference standings. They have won only six of their 21 matches leaving them off the pace in the race for the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
