In the blink of an eye, Major League Soccer is back. Saturday sees thirteen matches taking place across the country, with an afternoon kick-off in the Cascadia Cup leading the way. Elsewhere, St. Louis City will host Houston and in-form Cincinnati welcomes Chicago.
New York City FC-New England Revolution
In an early afternoon kick-off, both of these sides will try to break their winless runs. The Revs have slipped off top spot in the Eastern Conference thanks to FC Cincinnati’s strong form, with no win in four, while the hosts have the longest winless run in the league, not having won in six games, slipping to second-bottom in the process.
Seattle Sounders-Portland Timbers
Two weeks after the Sounders took on the Vancouver Whitecaps, it’s time for another edition of the Cascadia Cup. The Sounders are top of the Western Conference despite having lost to San José in the week, while the Timbers could move back into the playoff positions with a win.
Columbus Crew-Charlotte FC
After an action-packed win over Colorado in the week, the Crew are at home again, taking on Charlotte FC. Lucas Zelarayán had two assists and a goal and now has twelve involvements on the season. Charlotte are coming off a narrow loss to Philadelphia but remain in the playoff positions, just a place behind their opponents this evening.
FC Dallas-Nashville SC
Despite a loss to Sporting Kansas City in the week, the hosts remain in fourth place as they take on a dangerous Nashville side. Hany Mukhtar has nine goals and six assists, second only to Thiago Almada in the league, and the reigning MVP will be eager to keep his side on the heels of Cincinnati.
